South Orange, NJ
South Orange, officially the Township of South Orange Village, is a quaint residential community boasting authentic Tudor, Colonial, and Victorian homes, streets dotted with gaslights, beautiful parks, and a bustling Village center.
It is perhaps best known nationally for being home to Seton Hall University. From education to recreation, there’s a lot to absorb in South Orange, including the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) and cultural activities at The Baird Center.
During warmer months, many enjoy the numerous parks and playgrounds, and town pool. There’s also the South Orange Community Garden, which is dedicated to supporting and operating a recreational, organic community garden for the residents of South Orange for the promotion and education of organic, sustainable, ornamental and edible plant culture.
Everyone is welcome here. In fact, South Orange was the first municipality in New Jersey to recognize civil unions for homosexual couples.
South Orange shares a school system with its sister town, Maplewood.
